Sometimes you encounter situations so horrifically bad that you can't help but laugh. It's like your brain tries to make sense of the sheer level of unadulterated absurdity and just throws its hands up, opting for amusement check here as a coping mechanism.

But then, you suddenly become aware that it's not really funny. It's just plain horrifyingly awful. And the laughter you felt morphs into a sigh.

Ultimately, you are left with a sense of utter perplexity. You start ruminating about the meaning of it all. Was this intended to be funny?

Or were we just all part of a grand, cosmic prank?

Awful Day Ever

It all started with a terrible case of terrible hair. I couldn't figure it to look presentable. As I was dashing out the door, I fell and badly all over my new shoes. To make matters worse, I was completely behind schedule for school.

It all started out horribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then things went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to run away and hide.
